In 2008, Billy Joel commemorated the closing of the New York Mets stadium, Shea Stadium, with a legendary two-night concert of his top tracks as well as amazing guest performances. Designed as a multi-purpose stadium, Shea first met rock 'n' roll when The Beatles appeared there August 15, 1965, establishing Shea as the premier stadium for the world's greatest bands. The Who, The Police, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and The Clash all played Shea. Live At Shea Stadium does what a lot of artists haven't done the past couple of years, deliver a solid album. While I do honestly wish that there could've been some more songs and surprises from the set, it still is very satisfying from top to bottom. While Shea Stadium is not here anymore, it still is in the die hard Mets fans' memories, and for die hard Billy Joel fans, they still know how strong the Piano Man has carried a solid note with his music over the years.
The mixing in of the live footage from Joel's final two concerts at Shea make the documentary scenes even more powerful. The use of Miami 2017 when the Mets win the infamous Game Six elevates the victory to unbelievable heights, just as using Goodnight Saigon during the 9/11 segment will bring tears to your eyes.

He was accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Robert Ziegler, and the program was televised by the BBC. Nonesuch Records now releases this concert as Randy Newman: Live in London.
