Colleen Hewett was born on 16 April 1950 in Bendigo. She has an older sister, Glenys Hewett, who was a pop vocalist from the early sixties to mid-seventies. From 15 November 1971 to 22 July 1972 Hewett acted in the Australian musical theatre version of Godspell, at the Playbox Theatre, Melbourne. She recorded two versions of the show's tune, "Day by Day". The first on Godspell – Original Australian Cast had Johnny Young producing the cast album, which appeared in March 1972. The second version was produced by Ian "Molly" Meldrum and was issued as her second single, in November 1971. Peter Allen was born on Feb 10, 1942 in a little town in the hills of . He learnt piano from an early age and was playing at the local pub by the time he was ten. Peter left school in his mid-teens and decided to further his career in Sydney. It was there that he met Chris Bell and they joined forces as the Allen Brothers. The fact that Peter had never actually stayed on in Tenterfield would not be mentioned because it would only confuse the issue. Peter Allen, real name Peter Woolnough, had in fact grown up in Armidale.

Tenterfield Saddler is a song written by Peter Allen in 1970 It was released in 1972 as the second single from his second studio album of the same name C. This version was later included on his 2004 album, The Essential Collection. In 2002, Olivia Newton-John covered the song (with Peter Allen) for her album, 2. In 2004, Hugh Jackman recorded the song for The Boy from Oz sound track. In 2015, John Farnham and Olivia Newton John sang a duet on their album Two Strong Hearts Live that they performed on the tour in 2015.
Colleen Hewett is the debut studio album by Australian recording artist Colleen Hewett. The album was released in October 1972 by Festival Records. In 1967 Hewett joined a vocal trio called the Creations with whom she toured Australia. In 1970 she embarked on a solo career under the management of Danny Finley who was later to become her husband. Her big break came later in the year when she won the Bandstand 1970 Best Female Newcomer of the Year award.
